The Triple Crown is made up of three individual races: Points race, elimination and time trial. It will be raced over A, B, C and women’s grades. As usual at Nundah women will race with B grade in the points and elimination races.
Each event will award points from 1st to 5th in each grade (1st: 5 points, 2nd: 4 points, 3rd: 3 points, 2nd: 2 points, 5th: 1 point). Points will be accumulated from each event and the rider with the most points at the end of the three events will be awarded the overall win.
Points Race – Nundah, Saturday 18th of May
21 laps with a sprint every 3 laps (total of 7 sprints including the final sprint). Points will be awarded —1st: 3 points, 2nd: 2 points, 3rd: 1 point — for each sprint. Points will be worth double in the final sprint. C grade will race 15 laps with 5 sprints including the last.
Elimination – Nundah, Saturday 18th of May
One neutral lap followed by the last rider across the line each lap getting eliminated until only one rider remains. Depending on numbers two riders each lap may be eliminated for the first few laps.
Time Trial – Brookfield, Sunday 19th of May
A 12km out and back time trial on this course.
We’ll need volunteers to help out on both mornings. Especially on the Saturday morning where it can be difficult to pick the top 3 riders in the sprints as well as the last riders getting eliminated.
Roll out on both days will be 6:15 from the Regatta as usual. C grade will be leaving the Regatta at 5:20 for a 6:00 start at Nundah.
