Racing

Racing — it’s what the best riders do best, and it’s what the rest of us just enjoy being a part of.

Club Racing

The Club organises racing throughout the year for all Club members. Held at Albert Bishop Park in Nundah, races take place approximately every fortnight on weekend mornings.

Depending on numbers, a variety of different race formats take place including scratch, handicap, sprint, points score and elimination. Visit Racing & Results for more information on each format, and don’t forget to check the Club calendar for our upcoming schedule.

These races are an exclusive member benefit, and unlike many other clubs that charge their members for racing, they are included in your membership fees.

And how fast do we all ride? A grade average about 45 km/h with the sprint finish around 60 km/h. B and C grades average about 40 km/h with a sprint finish about 45 to 50 km/h.

New racers or those coming back after some time away are welcome to come and try criterium racing in D grade which begins with 10 minutes of rolling group riding under supervision.

UQCC members can find the upcoming club race events in our Facebook Group, on our Race Calendar, or on EntryBoss.

Charles Coin Memorial &
Mardi Bartlett Classic

In addition to members only racing, each year the Club hosts two rounds of the Queensland Classic Road Series, the first of which is The Charles Coin Memorial & Mardi Bartlett Classic.

Racing is open to all AusCycling members and takes place across a full range of categories, including Women’s, Elite Men’s, Masters, and Juniors, with distances varying from 54 to 126 kilometres.

Strade Marroni Road Race

The second round of the Queensland Classic Road Series which UQCC hosts is the Strade Marroni Road Race, which first ran in 2024.

Affectionately known as “The Macaroni”, the race takes place in Gatton’s south, with a 19km circuit containing a 3km gravel section.

Brisbane & Surrounds

Brisbane has a lively racing scene, including criterium races such as the weekly races at Murarrie Recreation Reserve (Brisbane International Cycle Park) and the fortnightly Ipswich Crit under lights.

There are also a range of multi-race series, such as the Hamilton Twilight Criterium Series.

Of course, don’t forget to plan your season around the rounds of the Queensland Classic Road Series, including the Charles Coin Memorial & Mardi Bartlett Classic and the Strade Marroni.
